Ohio’s sales tax holiday this year runs from Friday, August 6, through Sunday, August 8, 2021. During the holiday, clothing priced at $75 or less, school supplies priced at $20 per item or less and school instructional materials priced at $20 per item or less are exempt from state and local sales and use tax.
Qualified items sold to customers via the internet, phone or mail will qualify for the sales tax holiday as well. The following actions will need to occur during the holiday period for the exemption to apply:
Order is placed
Payment is initiated
Retailer accepts order and processes for immediate shipment
Items used in a trade or business are not exempt during the sales tax holiday. Likewise, clothing accessories and sports and recreational equipment do not qualify.
