Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf announced businesses would not be required to make accelerated tax payments for the months of April, May and June 2020. There will be no penalties charged for missing prepayment deadlines during this three-month period. The waiver is intended to assist Pennsylvania businesses that are currently closed with their cash flow during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As such, taxpayers will just have to remit the sales tax they collected during the prior month on the respective due dates of April 20, May 20 and June 22.
Pennsylvania Department of Revenue Secretary Dan Hassell stated that the Department will continue to work with the governor in identifying other steps that the Department can take to help the business community during this crisis.
The Department reminds taxpayers that while the Department’s call centers are closed during the pandemic, taxpayers can submit questions electronically via the Online Customer Service Center or review the Department’s responses to commonly asked questions at revenue-pa.custhelp.com.
