Schneider Downs is proud to be named a finalist for the Pittsburgh Technology Council's 2020 Tech 50 Cybersecurity Award.
The PTC Tech 50 Awards recognize technology innovation in the southwestern Pennsylvania region, and finalists were selected based on their ability to represent the 2020 event theme of “Redefine. Recharge”.
“We’re thrilled to be named a Tech 50 finalist,” said Daniel Desko, leader of Schneider Downs' cybersecurity practice. “The cybersecurity sector is constantly evolving, and one of our chief missions is to evolve at the same pace. This recognition helps reinforce our belief that our clients are best served if we continue to offer new innovations to meet their needs.”
The virtual award program will showcase each finalist and announce the winners on November 12. For more information on the PTC Tech 50 Awards, including the full list of finalists and categories, please visit www.pghtech.org/events/Tech50_2020.
As we continue to develop our practice in the region and beyond, our team has introduced a number of new services, software and educational resources to help better empower end users and organizations against threat actors to keep our clients and community safe, including:
Redlure
This past July, Schneider Downs introduced the open-source phishing platform Redlure at the DEF CON 28 Demo Labs. Recognizing the importance of accurately portraying real life threat actors in penetration testing and red teaming methodology, cybersecurity team member Matt Creel developed Redlure with the goal of providing customizable, scalable and most importantly, realistic phishing campaigns tailored to unique needs of users and organizations. The decision to offer Redlure as open-source was an easy one for the practice.
"Our practice owes a great deal to the cybersecurity community and other companies that have previously created open-source programs for us to use. They have made us a better practice," explained Desko. "This is our contribution and effort to pay that debt forward to help other companies."
We know firsthand that threat actors don’t keep banker hours, which is why we introduced our Incident Response hotline as part of our Digital Forensics & Incident Response service this past year. The hotline is available 24x7x365 at 1-800-993-8937 for those who suspect or are experiencing an incident or breach. View the video below for an overview of our services and team.
In response to direct feedback from our clients and colleagues, the Schneider Downs cybersecurity team launched our Focus on Cybersecuritynewsletter this past May. The bi-weekly newsletter shares relevant news and events in the cybersecurity world as well as original articles and insights from our team, including ungated access to featured whitepapers.
Developing security awareness content continues to be a key focus for our cybersecurity team, especially this past roller-coaster of a year when organizations faced new complexities and concerns in keeping their data and end users secure with the shift to remote accommodations. We understand the importance of educating end users and leadership about cybersecurity, which is why our resource center is completely open access. Recent content includes our recent "Cybersecurity Tips from Home" video series, "Staying Secure from Home" whitepaper, COVID-19 focused pieces and the latest Our Thoughts On articles.
The Schneider Downs cybersecurity practice consists of experts offering a comprehensive set of information technology security services, including penetration testing, intrusion prevention/detection review, ransomware security, vulnerability assessments and a robust digital forensics and incident response team. In addition, our Incident Response Team is available 24x7x365 at 1-800-993-8937 if you suspect or are experiencing a network incident.
