Benjamin Franklin once said, “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” This quote perfectly describes my internship experience at Schneider Downs. The staff, managers and shareholders I worked with during my internship could not have done a better job making sure I was involved. Whether this was them making sure I had work to do or asking if I wanted to eat lunch with them, I always felt welcomed.
One word to describe the past eight weeks is involvement. From week one, I was assigned meaningful work. Having so much involvement played a key role in making this internship experience so impactful. Through the work I completed, I evolved into a better professional. I was taught an unlimited amount of knowledge on public accounting. The employees at Schneider Downs were very helpful with all of my questions and made sure that I was not just doing a testing, that I actually knew the reasoning behind each task.
The experiences I had at Schneider Downs will stay with me for the rest of my career. Walking into the building on June 21, I knew little to nothing about auditing. Now, completing my last few days of my internship, I am so much more educated on what auditing is, and I will be able to use the skills I learned no matter where my career takes me. I am very thankful to have had this wonderful experience and the opportunity to meet great people.
